Election Consolidation Laws went into effect in 2005, establishing
four potential election dates each year. Those dates are the fourth
Tuesday in February and the second Tuesday after the first Monday in
May, August, and November. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Election dates for 2010 are:
One can register at any time but in order to be eligible for an
election, registration must be completed at least 30 days prior to the
election. The registration deadlines for the 2010 elections are:
Monday, April 5, 2010 for the May 4, 2010 election
Tuesday, July 6, 2010 for the August 3, 2010 election
Monday, October 4, 2010 for the November 2, 2010 election
An absentee ballot may be requested 75 days prior to an election.
Ballots may be requested by mail up until 2 p.m. on the Saturday prior
to an election. Please note, that is rarely enough time to complete the
process. Request your ballot as soon as possible.
The last day to obtain an absentee ballot in the office is the
Monday prior by 4 p.m. The ballot must be voted in the office and
returned. All ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. on Election Day to be
counted.

What about schools, aren't those elections in June?
No! After the Consolidated Election law went into affect in 2005, municipalities took over school elections. The schools were given the option of election dates based on the four possible dates listed above. Schools in Kalamazoo County selected the May date.
I missed the registration deadline, now what?
Unfortunately, you will not be allowed to vote at your new address. If you have moved within the last 60 days, you may vote at your previous precinct one last time. If that location is a long distance or in another state, contact the Clerk for an absentee ballot.
