Sangha Yoga
Sangha Yoga is Kalamazoo's first and largest yoga studio in downtown Kalamazoo. Sangha is located on the Kalamazoo Mall in Mall Plaza facing Farmer’s Alley. The studio is warm and eloquent with an earthy, calming atmosphere. Classes are held 7 days a week with times ranging from 6am to 9pm. Specialty classes include ParaYoga®, meditation, pre-natal yoga, yoga for kids, and belly dance. Discounts are offered for beginning yoga semesters, college nights and the weekend community classes.
The word "sangha" means a like minded community of people supporting one another’s well being. The studio’s Director, Karina Ayn Mirsky is a nationally renowned yoga and meditation teacher who has lived in Kalamazoo since 1993. Mirsky chose to open Sangha Yoga after surviving lymphatic cancer at age 27. She felt such support from her Kalamazoo community that she wanted to give something back. Sangha Yoga shares an office suite with Shanti
Massage and Healing Arts. Shanti offers a variety of massage therapy services. Mirsky and Shanti’s director Cassandra Worth envisioned a “green space” for their downtown practices. They used many sustainable, recycled and refurbished materials in the design of their suite including cork flooring the yoga studios.
Sangha Yoga does regular fundraising events for local and international charitable organizations. Sangha is pleased to have Shanti now collaborating in their annual December “Wellness Day” fundraiser for Kalamazoo’s Ministry with Community.
